Холодорастущие декоративные травы вступают в вегетацию при нулевой температуре. Эти растения с высокой зимостойкостью, не боящиеся возвратных заморозков. В нашем климате у них два периода роста – весной и осенью.
Выбор холодосезонных злаков велик, вы можете подобрать на свой вкус как крупные сорта этих растений, так и достаточно небольшие. Ранней весной они образуют первые зеленые кочки, а началу июня они имеют наиболее эффектный вид. Цвести начинают уже в мае или в начале лета, сохраняя свои метелки и колосья до самой осени. Пик роста этих злаков приходится от +12 до +20 градусов, сопровождающейся повышенной влажностью и достаточным световым днем.
Холодосезонные злаки : вейник, щучка дернистая, сеслерия, овсяница, бухарник мягкий, райграс бульбоносный, осока, ковыль, бор развесистый, лисохвост, манник, перловник, ситник развесистый, зубровка душистая и другие. Делят либо пересаживают травы весной, до наступления жарких дней, или осенью. Делают это тогда, когда идет активная вегетация, а не когда наступает летняя жара у злаков состояние покоя.
Летом некоторые из этих трав теряют свою декоративность – листья желтеют и рост замедляется. Хотя тонконог сизый или щучка дернистая сохраняют свою декоративность до холодов. Так как холоднорастущие злаки осенью растут, то осенью не спешите с обрезкой. Поздно осенью можно обрезать канареечник тростниковый и манник, в силу их неопрятного вида.
Прекрасно перезимовывает сеслерия голубая — растение вечнозеленое, её обрезать почти не приходится. Большинство холодорастущих трав обрезают рано весной.
Акцентирую внимание на холодорастущие виды злаков : они морозоустойчивы, и укрытия на зиму не требуют; холодосезонные травы проявляют иммунитет к болезням, разве что на вейниках или луговиках иногда бывает ржавчина – результат поражения грибком.
